Lovely smells from the kitchen

Well this is the little number I was stitching yesterday and as it was a little cooler earlier today (I'm writing this on Monday 00.54 a.m. so I'm referring to Sunday), Jewel got to wear this for a while until we lit a stove for added warmth. It fits nice and snug and is light. The one she has been wearing up to now is rather bulky, so a special bedtime coat was required. She doesn't have any fat on her so she feels the cold sometimes. I love the colours in the fabric which is a lovely soft, warm, fleece.

I've yet to make one each for these two boys. Here they are at the entrance to the kitchen waiting for their dinner.
Rufus on the left is quite a sturdy dog, and his coat is nice and thick so he doesn't always need a bedtime coat. The houses here are so well insulated that they retain their heat efficiently. Paddy however has a very thin coat and doesn't have all his hair so he can feel the cold a bit. So he will need one.
No sewing today. I spent some time in the kitchen. I made a loaf. It must be over a year since I made any bread. This is an extremely simple recipe, one of Delia's. There's only one small piece left! I also made some carrot and lentil soup and an orange and chocolate cake, neither of which I photographed. Next time...

Jewel's coat is so warm & cozy looking. I love the rich colors. You have made me hungry with the bread and other treats. Guess I'll go eat an apple! Always a joy to read your posts.

Ooh sounds delicious! Can I come to yours for tea?!
Your dogs look lovely-they are being very good for their photos.
My photos were taken just down the road on the banks of the Thames at North Greenwich. I just couln't believe how blue the sky looked-I don't remember when I took the pictures but it must have been the summer. We often go down there for a bit of beachcombing. That sculpture is not always there. The building on stilts is a yacht club. Stay warm!

Thank you for visiting.

Daisy, Jewel loves her new coat, it keeps her nice and warm at night. They are all lovely dogs.

Mildred, The colours are lovely. I'd like a throw made with the fleece for me to cuddle up with it's so cosy. I hope you enjoyed your apple!

Sarah, Yes come to tea anytime. The dogs are all very patient.
I did wonder about the Thames but it's not a place I have spent much time.

Thank you all for your lovely comments.

Lynne,
I found my way to your blog via Mildred @ "Nalley Valley".

I have to know...what kind of camera do you use? I don't believe I have ever seen such clear and sharp pictures!

Please stop by and drop me a line and let me know.
Thanks so much!

How nice of you to make a cozy coat for your baby. It is still way too warm here(85 tonight)....in fact we don't get much cold weather all year long. My four legged girl does not need a coat....her own keeps her too warm and she is always shedding it all over the house.

Your bread and soup must have just wonderful on a cool day. I bet it really warmed you up.

Have a nice weekend. We are having hot Santa Ana winds again but hopefully they will let up soon. I would gladly trade some of your cold for some of our heat....want to trade???

Thanks for stopping by Sue.

Grammy Staffy, would you really like to trade some of our cold for your warm?

Thanks for the award Rosie, I like the look of your sausages.

Thanks Lisa, I suppose it is a Happy coat. It certainly is cheery and you can tell Jewel appreciates it. I like your Happy Week, great idea.

Hello Lynne!

Barb from Stamplicity directed me over there to your lovely site. What a beautiful coat... I'm a fellow Greyhound lover and our family is waiting for the adoption group we're going through to send one our way. We had a sweet Grey named Sasha several years ago and are now at long last, impatiently, waiting for our second Grey....Come on over for tea with me at the society anytime and dogs are always welcome, especially Greyhounds:^)....
